Abstract: Algebraic cycles are basic ingredients in studying invariants of algebraic varieties .For example algebraic cycles quotient by rational equivalence form the Chow groups ,divisors quotient by algebraic equivalence form the Neron-Severi groups. A new approach using homotopy theory was founded by Lawson to study the groups of algebraic cycles and further developed by Friedlander and Lawson into a new theory which provides many new algebraic invariants and interesting structures. I will give an introduction to this theory and some conjectures related to motives.
