Title : Soliton equations and the Riemann-Schottky problem(Lecture 1 and 2)
Time : 2012-11-23 (Fri) 15:00 - 17:00
Place : Lecture Hall, Inst. of Mathematics
Abstract: In the first talk, intended to be understandable by undergraduate students with some familiarity to ordinary differential operators, I'd like to show concrete examples of commuting differential operators and basic tools to study them, including the KP hierarchy. In the second talk I'd like to explain the Burchnall-Chaundy-Krichever theory and a solution to Riemann-Schottky problem using the KP hierarchy or the KP equation i.e., the first nontrivial differential equation in the hierarchy.
